Maison Tranquil is a spacious lakeside retreat with stunning lake views set in over 1.5 acres of private grounds with private pool. Located in the heart of vineyards in the beautiful Razes region of Languedoc. Surrounded by medieval Cathar Chateaux, just 20 mins from the medieval town of Mirepoix and beautiful riverside town of Limoux. Carcassonne with its UNESCO world heritage castle and airport are only 30 minutes away, it’s a truly stunning rural location however very accessible.
The House
With large, light and airy communal spaces totalling 350 m², the gîte accommodates a maximum of 19 guests in 7 bedrooms, all rooms have private bathrooms. The 1.5 acres of private terraced gardens host a heated child friendly gated pool area with pool house, a giant garden chess, playground, overviewed by a stunning terrace with lake-side views.

Modern & luxurious
To make our guests feel even more comfortable, we accomplished the following in 2023:
- new windows
- air conditioning
- modern bathrooms and sanitary facilities
- insulation and painting work
The modernization work now makes it possible to rent the house all year round. The combination of fireplace, warm air heating (air conditioning) and new windows creates a cozy living environment even in winter.
Ground floor
The ground floor is centred around the stunning dining room with open fireplace and bespoke 4m oak dining table, there is ample seating for even the grandest banquet a great space for big get togethers.
Leading off the dining room are 2 comfortable reception rooms with wood burning stoves, perfect for evening socialising in cooler months and escaping the mediterranean sun in the summer. Also off the dining room is the stunning kitchen/breakfast room with all mod cons, dishwasher, microwave oven, range oven, kitchen island, it even boasts it’s own wood burning pizza oven. There is a utility room / pantry and direct access to parking so offloading food & wine is easy. There is a breakfast table that seats 6-8 people and access to the garden.
Also on the ground floor is Bedroom 6 with a queen bed, day bed and a private bathroom, perfect for mobility impaired guests that would prefer ground floor accommodation. In addition there is Bedroom 7, a queen ensuite-bedroom available only by request.
First Floor
The first floor boasts 5 ensuite-bedrooms all leading off the galleried hallway that wraps around the house. Bedrooms 1-3 are either king or queen beds, bedroom 4 is twin singles (which can be put together as a king) with bedroom 5 hosting twin single beds and bunk beds, ideal as a children’s room. Layout can be changed to accommodate individual requirements with day beds and cots available for little people.
Outside
The dining room and kitchen lead out onto the sun soaked terraces with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and of course the lake. There are plenty of shaded areas, in addition to tables and chairs for al-fresco dining and a Bar-B-Q. A few steps lead down to the large private gardens and lawns with petanque court, garden chess, table tennis, giant jingo & children’s play area and sand pit. Through a secure gated area is a beautiful outside heated pool approx 12x5m, with shallow steps, perfect for children learning to swim, it is also alarmed to French AFNOR standards. There are plenty of lounge chairs available to soak up the sun and a pool house to relax in.
